In March 1941, US Pacific Squadron of 7 ships led by Rear Admiral John H Newton of the Cruiser CHICAGO docks in Brisbane.
This was a goodwill visit, as the US was not yet involved in WWII.
Newton meets Harry when he was informed that Harry’s V.C. was awarded for action on 4th July.
Some 250,000 lined the streets of Brisbane to watch the march of US sailors, marines & Aussie servicemen.
